It’s that time of year again; everyone is taking the time to make a list of new year’s resolutions (some of you even have a list of over 20 things)… … a lot of them you chose in order to make you HAPPIER with yourself. Why is it that when the year ends we find all the negative things about ourselves in search to change ourselves? How many of those things do you actually change. Are your new years resolutions a success?
Keys to be happier: 1) do things that you know make you happy!  —> this goes to girls especially! take on a hobby instead of waiting around for your boyfriend/husband all day, because odds are he is (definitely out playing ball with his friends)! - this is a mistake a lot of us make! 2) doing good will make you feel GOOD!  —> remember that one time you helped that homeless man cross the street? or made a crying child laugh… or even just got your friend the BEST GIFT EVER? It made YOU pretty darn happy now, didn’t it? Do this more and you’ll definitely feel more happy!3) Act the way you want to feel! Trust me, this works. Even the simple, “look good, feel good” does it for me. I’ll be completely honest: the days I wear sweats and don’t bother with my hair are probably my worst days. Go beyond the physical appearance and even just a simple smile can go a long way (you’ve heard this many times, but have you tried it?) I’ve smiled at people walking down the street and it’s true, a smile IS in fact contagious—> SO TRY IT!
4) Forgive We’ve all held grudges… some longer than others. But if you don’t forgive, you’re hurting most. Some people get so trapped in this grudge that it effects their present. People eat themselves up by their own bitterness and this ends up making them depressed! After forgiving, you can focus on more positive parts of your life and feel more peaceful.
5) DO IT NOW.  this is probably the one that is the most important in my book. Why? Well, how many to-do lists do you make? And eventually that to-do list fails and you make another one. You cross out 1 of the 10 things you were supposed to do. Before you go to bed you’re worried about all the things you still need to do. This is an unnecessary stress! Just get those things done right away and you’ll feel a lot better!
6) Get sleep.  This one is hard for me to follow too, but it’s something I’m working on. A lot of us get into bed but spend an hour thinking about all the things we want to accomplish the coming day and waste that hour. Tip: Let’s all leave our phones, laptops, tablets away from our beds… and actually go to sleep!

a day without sleep is a cupcake without frosting…
These are the best cupcakes! So small you won't feel guilty! (BAKED BY MELISSA!)

So let’s say you’re not happy and you want to be happy:This picture instructs you to “CHANGE SOMETHING,” but let’s think about it… for those of you who have a pretty good life, a good job, a good education, and people that love you… You all are pretty fortunate—> still not happy?
THE ONE THING YOU CAN CHANGE: your perception! Take charge of your thoughts TODAY! Remember its not what you have that will ever give you happiness, its WHO YOU ARE.

Day 1: I’m not saying that everyone should be happier than a bird with a french fry (that would be too crazy), but we should be close!
try this:  Mark Twain says, “The best way to cheer yourself is to try to cheer somebody else up.”
